Airborne Wind Profiling
Ophir’s Laser Radar Air Data System (LRADS) measures winds aloft – airborne wind profiling - for air vehicle maneuvers and atmospheric research. The LRADS is used in a look-ahead configuration to measure the approaching winds.
Cargo Air Drop
Ophir’s incoherent lidar is capable of detecting winds in clear air, through wake turbulence and in regions of high thermal and humidity gradients. This scanning lidar system measures winds, including cross winds, and may also be employed, in real time, for payload deployment such as cargo airdrop applications. By measuring the wind near a drop zone a more precise delivery of precious cargo may be accomplished.
